Fees & Funding

We understand that the cost of pursuing higher education can be a significant concern for many students and their families. Below we outline the costs of studying at KAUST, and the benefits we provide to offset these. All students admitted to a degree program on campus at KAUST automatically receive the KAUST Fellowship. In this way you can come to KAUST and focus on your studies and research knowing that you are financially supported.

The KAUST Fellowship includes:

  • Full coverage of tuition and bench fees (worth USD $35,000 per year)
  • A monthly stipend (worth USD $20,000 per year for PG Diploma and M.S. students, and USD $25,000 to $30,000 for Ph.D. students depending on qualifications and academic progress)
  • On-campus housing (worth USD $7,000 per year and covering utilities such as electricity and wifi)
  • Health insurance (worth USD $1,450 per year)
  • Relocation support (visa, relocation and travel costs)

In total, depending on where you travel from and what level you are studying at, the Fellowship is calculated to be worth between $70k and $80k per year.

Note that additional charges for housing and health insurance may be incurred by students who bring spouses or dependents with them to KAUST. The cost of relocation only includes the costs associated with each student’s initial move to KAUST and home again once they have completed their study. The value of the relocation/travel cost varies depends on several factors and is determined on a case-by-case basis by our relocation team. Full details of the Fellowship are made available to those offered a place at the University.

“KAUST has everything there for you. You don’t have to worry about a single thing other than your research and having fun, it makes life so much easier.”
- Iona Iaschsen, former KAUST student
