Fees & Funding

We understand that the cost of pursuing higher education can be a significant concern for many students and their families. The KAUST Fellowship is designed to ensure that you can focus entirely on your studies and research with the peace of mind that comes from financial support. All admitted students automatically receive this fellowship*, allowing you to dedicate yourself fully to your academic pursuits without the burden of tuition and living expenses.

The Fellowship includes:

  • Full tuition and bench fee coverage (worth up to USD $35,000 per year)
  • A monthly stipend (worth USD $20,000 per year for PG Diploma and M.S. students, and USD $25,000 to $30,000 for Ph.D. students depending on qualifications and academic progress)
  • On-campus housing (worth USD $7,000 per year and covering utilities such as electricity and wifi)
  • Health insurance (worth USD $1,450 per year)
  • Relocation support (visa, relocation and travel costs)

In total, the vaule of the KAUST Fellowship is calculated to be worth between $70k and $80k per year, depending on your specific situation. While we understand that higher education costs can be daunting, the KAUST Fellowship is here to alleviate those concerns.

Additional charges for housing and health insurance may apply for students bringing spouses or dependents, and the relocation assistance is only for each student’s initial move to KAUST and their return home upon graduation. Detailed information about the Fellowship will be provided to those offered a place at the University.

*Some students with external sponsorship or funding may not be eligible for the KAUST Fellowship.

“KAUST has everything there for you. You don’t have to worry about a single thing other than your research and having fun, it makes life so much easier.”
- Iona Iaschsen, former KAUST student
